I was thrilled to be appointed as project coordinator in November 2012.
I will be calling on the wealth of experience I have gained working in a variety of social care settings for both voluntary and statutory agencies across the country for the last 25 years.
Working with families
I am passionate about working alongside people with dementia and their families. Together we will establish what needs to be in place in order for their social needs to be met. It may be that a little additional support is needed to allow the person to continue attending a much enjoyed activity or that the person has become isolated and needs reintroducing to a club.
Friendships are hugely important. Inviting someone round for a coffee or offering a lift can be a lifeline.
Dementia awareness training
My aim is to help local businesses , groups, faith groups, services and societies work towards becoming dementia friendly. A training programme will be on offer later in the year to help you make the changes necessary.
We are lucky to live in a truly wonderful part of the country. It is here for us all to enjoy and each of us deserve to live well. Please join me in striving to make it a great place for all of our residents.
I am keen to hear from any of you who can contribute to our community project.
